The new silver coins will be issued in Lithuania

The Bank of Lithuania has announced the issue of silver commemorative coins of 50-litas nominal value, and one-litas circulation coin being dedicated to Vilnius – the European Capital of Culture 2009, informs LETA.

The coins are planned to be put into circulation on March 17, 2009.

 

Graphic designs were developed by an artist Vytautas Narutis.

 

The coins will be minted by UAB Lietuvos Monetu Kalykla (Lithuanian Mint). Planned mintage of the 50-litas silver coin will be 10,000 units, and that of the one-litas coins, made of copper and nickel alloy, will be one million units.
