EPA is one of the leading news photo agencies in Europe. The EPA service provides over 1000 pictures per day to media clients around the world.
LETA is very pleased to have EPA as a cooperation partner, said LETA Photoservice head Elita Cirule, adding that the news pictures from EPA are unique, they reach out to the beholder like no other photograhs do.
EPA was established in 1985 in response to demand for an independent high quality picture service to meet the needs of Europe's leading news agencies. In 2003, EPA established a global network of bureaus to meet the needs of the growing world-wide image market.
The LETA Photoservice department was restored in 2004 to provide extensive photographic material on the current and historic events in Latvia and abroad. Each day 150 to 200 photographs are added to the LETA Photoservice stock, informing about the key events in Latvia that day.
In cooperation with partners – F64 (Latvia), AFP (France), ITAR-TASS (Russia), ELTA (Lithuania) – the Photoservice each day offers more than one thousand photographs of events in Latvia and in the world. There are more than one-and-a-half million photographs in the LETA photo archive presently.
Over the past three years, LETA Photoservice has been seeing rapid growth: the number of the Photoservice clients has increased significantly, both among the mass media as well as corporate clients.
