Latvia and Lithuania qualify for "EuroBasket 2015" final phase

Janis Strelnieks was the highest scorer with 21 points and five rebounds for Latvia, Janis Timma scored 15 points and pulled down six rebounds, and Rolands Freimanis had 11 points. On the other hand, Gregor Arbet scored 16 points and pulled down six rebounds for Estonia, while Janar Talts had 12 points.
The Estonians completely outplayed Latvians in the first quarter: the result was 0:11 two minutes into the first quarter, and Freimanis scored Latvia's first two points only in the fourth minute of the match. Estonia kept pressing and closed the quarter leading 29:15. The Latvians were able to erase three points from the margin during the second quarter.
Latvia finally found their game in the third quarter. By the seventh minute of the quarter, the score was 47:47, and at the end of the quarter, it was Latvia that was leading by two points.
Latvia kept pulling away in the fourth quarter, increasing their lead to eleven points with three-and-a-half minutes to go. Despite the Estonians' efforts, the final score was 75:64 for Latvia.
Earlier on Thursday, Belgium beat Ukraine 79:71, and in the last Group D game last night, Lithuania overcame the Czech Republic 85:81 after trailing 12 points halfway through the match.
Therefore, Lithuania finished in first place in Group D with four wins in five matches. Latvia is second with three wins, followed by the Czech Republic and Belgium. These four teams will travel to France to play in the final Round of 16 this weekend.
Estonia finished in fifth place and Ukraine in sixth.
In the final round, Latvia will play Slovenia on September 12 (12:00) and Lithuania will take on Georgia on September 13. The winning teams will advance to the "EuroBasket" quarterfinals.
