Orkla Latvija invests EUR 1.5 mln in new milk chocolate brand

Orkla Confectionery&Snacks Latvija (formerly NP Foods) group has invested EUR 1.5 million in milk chocolate production and its new Tagad (Now) brand of Laima chocolate, the company’s board chairman Erik Smith-Hansen told LETA.

He said that the company plans to focus on the milk chocolate segment and expand its market share. The company has made serious investments in the production, purchasing equipment with the support of the European Regional Development Fund.

 

Laima brand manager Maija Brukle said that the new Tagad brand will have eight sorts of chocolate and young people are its target audience.

 

Laima brand has recently changed its visual identity and logo. At present Laima has about 250 different products in its portfolio which are also exported to 27 countries, including to the US, Canada, China, Israel, the UK, Ireland, Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan.

 

Norwegian food group Orkla, which owns Latvia’s NP Foods group, has decided to merge Latvian food companies Laima, Staburadze, Latfood and NP Foods into one company, Orkla Confectionery&Snacks Latvija.
