Crude imports via Lithuania's Butinge grew by 4.5% in January-May

Print versionLithuania's Butinge crude terminal, which is owned by Orlen Lietuva, the Lithuanian unit of Poland's PKN Orlen, posted a 4.5% year-on-year growth in oil throughput for January through May 2016, reports LETA/BNS.

The terminal handled 3.5 million tons of oil during the five months of 2016, up from 3.351 million tons a year earlier, the Klaipeda port authority told BNS on Wednesday.
In May alone, the throughput dropped by 25% year-on-year and remained virtually unchanged at 600,100 tons, as compared with April.
In 2015, the terminal handled 8.679 million tons of crude, indicating an increase by 18.4% from 7.332 million tons year-on-year.
Orlen Lietuva has been importing crude oil via Butinge solely for its own needs since mid-2006.
