Danish company Nic. Christiansen Group to become Baltic distributor for Honda
"Honda look forward to working alongside the Nic. Christiansen Group, as we continue to develop our business and serve our customer base in the Baltic States and in Finland. We have an exciting new product launch program, starting with the launch of the fantastic new Civic 5 door in the coming months," Philip Ross, senior vice president of Honda Motor Europe, said in a press release.
"For some time now, the Baltic states and Finland have been positioned as areas on our strategic roadmap. It is extremely satisfying for us that we have succeeded in establishing a collaboration with Honda in precisely these geographical areas, where we expect significant development and growth in the coming years. In addition, we have a great deal of confidence in Honda products and the Honda brand, and we therefore have high expectations for the coming collaboration," said Niels V. Bertelsen, CEO of Nic. Christiansen Holding.
The press release says that on March 31, 2017, Nic. Christiansen Group will take over two well-functioning sales organizations, in Tallinn in Estonia and in Helsinki in Finland, respectively, along with responsibility for sales of Honda's popular car models in Finland and their associated spare parts distribution and service. In the Baltics, Nic. Christiansen Group will be responsible for sales of Honda cars and their associated spare parts distribution, and will also be responsible for sales, service and spare parts distribution of motorcycles, scooters and power products.
Honda had an average market share for the passenger cars segment of around 3.5% in the Baltic states and Finland, and has a large operating fleet of cars. Its average market share for motorcycles in the Baltics is 5.6%.
Nic. Christiansen Group's decision to take over Honda imports in the Baltic states and in Finland is a result of the group's strategy to be responsible for import activities in Scandinavia and in the Baltic region.
Nic. Christiansen Group was established as an importer of BMW cars in 1967. Today, the group’s primary activities are importing Hyundai in Denmark, SsangYong in Denmark and Sweden, and Jaguar and Land Rover in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The Nic. Christiansen Group employs around 600 people.
