Estonian car sellers sold 10% more new cars in 2010 than the year before, a growth after two years of plunges, Äripäev.ee/LETA reports.

The last time car sales grew was in 2007 but in 2008 the total sale fell 20% and in 2009 even three times.

The growth was the strongest in 2010 in the utility vehicles sector, almost 30%. A total of 1,562 utility vehicles were sold last year versus 1,225 in 2009, Estonian Car Sales and Servicing Companies Association AMETL data indicates. In 2009, 166 utility vehicles were exported; in 2010 a whole 242, a growth of 45.7%, writes LETA.

New passenger car sale grew by 7.3% as 8,840 new cars were sold, by 606 more than in 2009.

The real statistics may be even better since unfortunately AMTEL’s statistics do not reflect the figures of Renault Estonia distributors which can change the whole result considerably.
