Levitin: trade volume between Latvia and Russia increased by 42% in 2010

Levitin stressed that the relations between Latvia and Russia were elevated to a new level after several cooperation agreements were signed during Latvian President Valdis Zatlers' visit to Moscow last December. There is much potential in the bilateral relations, said Levitin.
During their meeting today, Kampars and Levitin agreed that the agreements signed during Zatlers' visit to Moscow, including avoidance of double taxation, would be ratified by both countries' governments by the end of this year, writes LETA.
Kampars and Levitin also discussed the work of Latvia-Russia intergovernmental commission, implementation of current bilateral projects and matters that would be reviewed at further meetings of the commission.
Kampars informed that the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission would take place in Liepaja on June 9 and 10.
In order to discuss Latvian-Russian cooperation in the transportation sector, Levitin also met with President Valdis Zatlers today. Both officials pointed out that they are satisfied that relations between the two countries have become more active after Zatlers' visit to Russia this past December. As LETA was informed by the State Chancery, the Russian sides informed that the ratification of the agreement signed during Zatlers' visit are moving forward as planned.
Zatlers and Levitin also discussed other issues related to bilateral relations during today's meeting.
As reported, Levitin is on a two-day working visit to Latvia.
