Major shippers of coal in the Baltic Coal Terminal are MPO Kuzbass, which co-owns the terminal, and Siberian Business Union.
Commenting on the possible impact of the coal terminal in Ust-Luga (Leningrad region, Russia) on coal traffic at the Ventspils terminal, Igor Sokolov said this would lead to greater competition between coal terminals on the Baltic Sea, reports LETA.
However, he expects that Baltic Coal Terminal will have sufficient cargo base provided by the terminal co-owner (MPO Kuzbass) and other companies that would be interested in the advantages that Ventspils ice-free port can offer.
Baltic Coal Terminal is a joint venture of CJSC MPO Kuzbass and Ventspils Commercial Sea Port.
