Finland-based plastics manufacturer Muoviura plans to establish a new production unit near Tallinn.
"The reason for expanding production operations in Estonia is simple - as we are a sub-contracting enterprise, we require much labor force in our work and hence the cost of labor force is the principal cause," explained Kent Lindholm, one of the owners of Muoviura, a company producing plastic details.
Muoviura is establishing its production facilities on the 5,000 square metres of the territory of the former Kohila paper factory.
Finding skilled workers, however, is a serious challenge. “We started looking for employees six months ago and the process has been very difficult,” noted Lindholm. One reason for that is that there is no similar manufacturing enterprises to Muoviura in Estonia.
Finnish enterprise Reimax Electronics has recently expanded production. The site was increased by 2,500 square meters in Tallinn.
A company Trafotek has started its operation in Estonia in May this year having built a factory near Tallinn.
Manufacturers from other countries also seek to develop production in Estonia.
