Dome Hotel & Spa Team takes home both Jury and People’s choice awards in Latvia

The Annual Chili Cook-Off has become a traditional autumn event where AmCham members and friends compete for the title of the “Best Chili in Riga” and a special Chile Pepper Award. The judges – Pēteris Sliede, Anna Dzene, Inete Ielīte, Brian Phipps and Sara Veldhuizen Stealy – decided to award the top prize to Dome Hotel & SPA this year, informed BC AMCham.
2nd place was awarded to Drupa team for Drupa`s Chuck Wagon Chili. 3rd place went to the Seesamex team for their Insured Chili – Lucky Chili.
Winners received generous prizes from Hotel Bergs, Dome Hotel & SPA, Grand Palace Hotel, Gallery Park Hotel, Radisson Blu Hotels & Resorts and Pernod Ricard Latvia.
Seven teams participated in this year’s Cook-Off inclunding:
- The Bailey Family team with White Chili
- CanCham team with Fish Chili
- Dome Hotel & SPA with Chili Le Dome
- Coca-Cola Hellenic Latvia team with Coca-Cola Chili Vol.2
- Drupa team with Drupa’s Chuck Wagon Chili
- Seesamex team with Insured Chili – Lucky Chili
- U.S. Embassy team with New York State Chili
A charity raffle to benefit the Care Mobile of RMHC Latvija was held during the event. Raffle prizes were generously provided by the Latvian National Opera and R.B. Management. The raffle proceeds of LVL 268 will provide 53 children of Latvia with free healthcare services.
Chili is an integral part of the Wild West. It was a staple of the cowboys’ diet on long cattle drives across the big country of the old West. Large pots of meat, beans, onions, tomatoes and chili peppers were slow cooked over open campfires at day’s end while cowboys, tired from a day of riding, stretched out under the stars and traded stories, laughed and sang.
