This was revealed at the 3rd international regional railway traffic forum “Strategic partnership 1520: Baltic region” in Riga.
The train would thus arrive in Moscow in the Riga railway station not the Leningrad station as now. The Tallinn-Moscow train as many other trains are a problem for the super speed trains Sapsan of the St Petersburg-Moscow route.
The Russian side thus asked Estonian railway company GoRail to either increase the speed of Tallinn-Moscow trains trio 160 km/h for which the company would have to make infrastructural changes or change the route of the train.
Estonian Railways board chairman Kaido Simmermann said that GoRail would rather renovate infrastructure since sending the train to Russia via Koidula would means major inconveniences to passengers who start their trip from Narva.
