Forest industry export increases by 12% in Q1

Print versionIn the first quarter of 2012, Latvia's forest industry exports increased by 12.5% on the first three months of 2011, according to data from the Agriculture Ministry's Forest Department.

In January-March 2012, Latvia's forest industry exports totaled LVL 302.53 million, compared to LVL 270.3 million in the respective period in 2011, writes LETA.
Latvia's forest industry imports increased 8% and amounted to LVL 76.13 million.
Latvia's main export partners were Sweden with 13% (LVL 39.35 million worth of forest industry production) of total forest industry export, Great Britain with 11.5% (LVL 34.81 million), and Germany with 10.9% (LVL 32.89 million).
As reported, in 2011, Latvia's forest industry exports reached LVL 1.175 billion, a 15.7% increase on 2010.
