Cargo turnover at Klaipeda port and Butinge terminal grew by 24.6% in February

In February 2013, in the Port of Klaipėda and Butingė Terminal 3.73 mln tones were handled, that makes 24.6% or at 736.7 thousand tones more than in February 2012, informed BC port’s press service.

Turnover in the Port of Klaipėda reached 3.13 mln tones, variation +31.0% or +740.2 thous tones. In February 2013 average daily turnover rate was incredible –111.8 thous tones.

 

The increase was mainly impacted by the turnover of  fertilizers (855.1 thous tones were handled, +47.4%. arba +274.9 thous tones), agricultural products (325.0 thous tones were handled, +5.4 times or +264.4 thous tones), and oil products (805.9 thous tones were handled, +20.5% or +137.3 thous tones). In February 2013 there was growth of container turnover in the Port of Klaipėda – 32 415 TEU were handled, variation +6.2% or +1 890 TEU. Increase of Ro-ro cargoes made 2.6% or +476%, totally in February 2013 18 609% of ro-ro cargoes were handled.

In January 2013 handling of ore has much decreased – 44.7 thous tones (-41.9% or -32.2 thous tones).
