Latvian glass artists an&angel create world's first glass bicycle

Print versionLatvian glass design brand an&angel creative director Artis Nimanis and glass artist Gatis Vasiljevs have created the world's first glass bicycle, LETA was informed by an&angel representative Regina Ikala.

The bicycle's fragile material – glass – has been combined with motion and speed, resulting in a glass bicycle. The bicycle weighs 21 kilograms, its glass components – 13 kilograms. The bicycle can carry a person weighing up to 90 kilograms.
The world's first glass bicycle will be displayed during the international design exhibition "Maison&objet" in Paris and serve as a prototype for future glass bikes. It is currently parked at the business incubator "Creative Andrejsala".
