95 training ships and yachts from 15 countries will visit Riga during the regatta.
Many ships have already docked at the Riga Passenger Terminal and enthusiasts are flocking to Eksporta Street to board and tour them, LETA observed.
Riga has finally welcomed the regatta and four-day celebrations will now commence in the city, Riga Vice Mayor Andris Ameriks (Honor to Serve Riga) told reporters yesterday.
"We are proud that, during all these years, we were able to do everything in our power to bring "The Tall Ship Races" to Riga," said Ameriks.
Residents and city guests will be able to board and tour "The Tall Ships Races 2013" training ships and yachts each day until 8 p.m.
