Fortum opens new biomass cogeneration plant in Jelgava

Company Fortum is opening a new biomass cogeneration plant in Jelgava in Latvia at 12 noon today, informs LETA/Nozare.lv.
According to Fortum, it will be the largest biomass cogeneration plant in Latvia.
The plant will start operations already in the coming heating season, its electricity generation capacity is 23 megawatts and heat production capacity 45 megawatts.
Fortum has companies in Nordic countries, Russia, Poland and Baltic Sea region. In 2012, Fortum posted EUR 6.2 billion in sales. The company employs about 10,400 people.
President Andris Berzins, Finnish President Sauli Niinisto and other officials will participate in the plant's opening ceremony today.
