The Estonian Maritime Museum, an institution covering two unique Tallinn venues – the recently opened Seaplane Harbor and the medieval Fat Margaret's Tower – has become the newest member of the European Convention Bureau (ECB), the ECB said in a statement.

The Seaplane Harbor, consisting of early 20th century seaplane hangars and surrounding docks, became a top tourist attraction when it was turned into modern maritime museum in 2012. It quickly garnered a number of awards, among them the Best Tourism Object of Estonia 2012, the Best Construction Project of Estonia 2012 and the Europa Nostra Grand Prix 2013, informs LETA.

Among the many exhibits in the museum’s vast hangars are the 1930s-era Lembit submarine and a life-sized replica of the Short 184 seaplane.

The Seaplane Harbor has the capacity to host events for up to 1,500 people, festive gala dinners for up to 800 and concerts for up to 600. Events can be organised inside as well as outside the hangars and in the museum’s restaurant Maru.

Events the Seaplane Harbor has hosted so far in 2013 include the CyCon2013 Conference gala dinner organised by the NATO Cyber Defense Center in Tallinn, a gala dinner for the official visit of the President of Germany, and a gala dinner for the International Association of Young Lawyers Conference.

The ECB would like to give its newest member a warm welcome and is looking forward to fruitful cooperation.
