Police are also denying information in the media that the officers involved in the investigation had acted incorrectly towards Jakobsons, as well as are deliberately delaying the investigation, writes LETA.
As State Police Chief Ints Kuzis informs, there is no reason to believe that this case is not being investigated sufficiently. ''I am overseeing this investigation, so is the interior minister, thus it will be investigated objectively,'' Kuzis said.
He added that specialists who investigate murder cases have also been involved in the investigation.
As reported, Jakobsons, who is an investigative journalist at the kompromat.lv news web-site, believes that those who attacked him wish to halt his professional work.
The goal was to either scare him, or murder him, Jakobsons said after the attack.
Jakobsons has recently been at the center of attention in media circles since "kompromat.lv" began printing Riga Mayor [then MP] Nils Usakovs' e-mails from 2008 with now former Russian Embassy advisor Alexander Hapilov. The portal eventually turned to the Prosecutor General's Office, suspecting wrongdoing on Usakovs' part.
