Fired Latvian Employment Agency’s chief contests her release in court

Alla Petrova, BC, Riga, 17.04.2012.Print version
Former State Employment Agency of Latvia (SEA) Director Baiba Pasevica, who was released from her position by the government March 13, has filed a petition in Administrative District Court, demanding the order be deemed illegitimate.

The petition was filed April 12.

As Pasevica herself informed LETA, she is also requesting reinstatement in her former job.

Inese Deme, the chief justice's aide, said that the petition had been received, but there has been no decision yet on its further course. This will be announced by April 19.

A disciplinary investigation had established that Pasevica violated regulations by assuming budget obligations in the agency's 2012 salary fund, exceeding the maximum-allowed by LVL 134,455, thus deliberately committing a violation – conducted her duties poorly and carried out inappropriate actions with financial resources, as a result, the state suffered considerable losses.
