Alla Petrova, BC, Riga, 04.10.2012.Print version
A Riga court ordered the former chief of the municipal housing management company Rigas nami Ltd., Karlis Kavacs, held in custody, at the same time stipulating that he can be freed on bail – set at LVL 15,000.

Karlis Kavacs.

His attorney, Guntars Antoms, told reporters that his client does not deny signing a contract with the company Zeus, but in his view, no law was broken, informs LETA.

As reported, police detained Kavacs on suspicion of abuse of official position – making high risk deals connected to currency exchange, in cooperation with Zeus.

LETA was informed earlier today by sources that Zeus board member Ivars Ciska has also been arrested.
