Lithuanian justice Greicius moved from Supreme Court to Constitutional Court

Following the Constitution and taking into consideration President Dalia Grybauskaite's motion to dismiss Vytautas Greicius from his duties as justice of the Supreme Court in Lithuania after he had been appointed as justice to the Constitutional Court, the Seimas decided to dismiss Greicius and to appoint him as justice to the Constitutional Court, informs LETA/ELTA.

After the secret ballot, 69 members of the Seimas supported the initiative, 4 members voted against it and 1 member abstained.
As reported, the Parliament appointed for a nine-year term Vytautas Greicius, Danute Jociene and Elvyra Baltutyte as justices of the Constitutional Court.
The decision was taken after considering the nominations made by Parliament Speaker Loreta Grauziniene, President Dalia Grybauskaite and Chair of the Supreme Court Gintaras Kryzevicius.
Voting by secret ballot Greicius' candidacy was supported by 67 members of Parliament, while 32 voted against and 16 abstained.
