Georgian parliament speaker urges Latvian entrepreneurs to invest in Georgia

Georgian Parliament Speaker David Usupashvili during a meeting with Latvian Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma in Riga on Monday called on Latvian entrepreneurs to invest in Georgia.

Straujuma told Usupashvili that Latvia will keep supporting Georgia’s reform processes and praised Georgia’s efforts aimed at becoming a secure, democratic and developed country, the prime minister’s spokeswoman Aiva Rozenberga told LETA. “We are and will remain friends of Georgia,” Straujuma said.

 

The Latvian prime minister also spoke in support of a fast conclusion of talks on lifting the visa regime between the EU and Georgia. Straujuma also praised the expansion of economic exchange between Latvia and Georgia.

 

Usupashvili noted that the amount of Latvian investment in Georgia had grown lately and urged Latvian entrepreneurs to keep investing in his country. Both officials agreed on the need to expand contacts also in education and public administration.

 

Martins Krievins, director of the Latvian State Chancellery, who also took part in the meeting, stressed Latvia’s readiness to continue sharing reform and public administration experience with Georgia.
