News agency BNS has taken over the Swedish media monitoring company's Cision Lithuanian subsidiary Cision Lietuva, Vz.lt/LETA reported.

BNS paid 421,680 lats for 100% of Cision Lietuva shares.

Turnover of Cision Lietuva totaled 920,000 lats in 2008. The company currently employs 43 persons.

BNS operates in all three Baltic states. It owns news agencies in Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia, as well as media monitoring companies – Mediaskopas in Lithuania, Mediju Monitorings in Latvia, and ETA Monitooring in Estonia.

"Both Mediaskopas and Cision Lietuva accrued a lot of experience in media monitoring and information analysis during decades of the successful operation. This deal is another step to enhance our services value for the clients", said Lina Zulonaite, the head of Mediaskopas.

"Combining experience and greatest achievements of the companies, we will be able to offer our clients extended range of services and clients' needs-oriented solutions," added Cision Lietuva CEO Lin Katilius.

BNS and Cision plan to render Baltic news-related services and media monitoring services to foreign customers. Besides, Mediaskopas and other BNS Group's clients will gain access to Cision services in monitoring foreign media.
