Firefighters have put out the fire that broke out at the club "Fontaine Palace" in Latvia’s Liepaja earlier this morning, as the State Fire and Rescue Service's Liepaja Department representative Inga Darzniece informed LETA.

As reported, a massive fire broke out at the club "Fontaine Palace" in Liepaja this morning: flames engulfed an area of 900 square meters.

Flames have been put out, but firefighters remain at the scene and continue to pour water on the building to cool down its temperature, as the head of the State Fire and Rescue Service's Kurzeme Brigade Andrejs Belakovs informed LETA.

All the club's premises are completely burnt-out. It has been established that the blaze broke out on the ground floor of the building and reached the second floor and the roof via the ventilation system.

The club's representatives informed the firefighters that at the moment, when the fire broke out, there were around 15 persons in the second floor of the building; all of them immediately quit the club's premises after noticing the fire. According to the current information, no persons were injured or killed in the fire accident.

Belakovs comments that there are several versions of what could have caused the fire: a short circuit, careless treatment of fire or arson.

The Fire and Rescue Service received a call from "Fontaine Palace" at 1 Dzirnavu Street in Liepaja at 5:58 a.m. this morning.
