"Cesu dzins" is most popular alcoholic drink in Latvia in 2009; most popular tobacco brand – "Winston"

Most popular retail alcoholic drink in Latvia in 2009 was the "Cesu dzins" cocktail made by Cesu alus, while the country's favorite beer was "Aldara gaisais" from the producer Aldaris, according to sales data from the State Revenue Service (SRS). The most popular tobacco product in Latvia were "Winston" brand cigarettes.

The second most popular alcoholic drink was "Fizz" cider, with the third most popular being "Rigas sampanietis" sparkling wine.

 

Consumers in Latvia also bought large amounts of "3 graudu" vodka, "Lucky Dog" cider, "Svetskoe" sparkling wine, the alcoholic cocktail "Dins" and "Bonaparte" brandy, writes LETA.

 

The ninth most popular drink was "Kagor" sparkling wine, with "Latvijas originalais" vodka in tenth place.

 

According to SRS figures, the second and third most popular beers were "Garais" and "Cesu Premium", both produced by Cesu alus.

 

Fourth and fifth places were taken by "Apinitis stiprais" and "Euro", both produced by Aldaris, while "Cesu Light" was in sixth place, "Pilzene" from Aldaris was in seventh, "Apinitis" was in eighth, ninth was "Walter" from Cesu alus, while "Lacplesis", produced by Cido grupa, was in tenth place.

 

The largest amount of alcohol beverages were offered for sale in nine months last year by Latvijas Balzams, "Mobil plus ADV", and Cesu alus. Fourth place was taken by Livako, fifth by Berlat grupa, sixth by Latalko, seventh by Maxima Latvija, eighth by Jaunalko, ninth by Park MV, and tenth by Interbaltija AG.

 

In terms of the volume of beer offered for sale last year, the largest retailer was Aldaris, followed by Cesu alus ,Cido grupa, Maxima Latvija, Agrofirma Tervete, Bauskas alus, Valmiermuizas alus, Piebalgas alus, and Gries Logistika.

 

The most popular tobacco product in Latvia were "Winston" brand cigarettes, according to information on excised goods, compiled by the State Revenue Service.

 

The second most favorite cigarette brand last year was "Marlboro", followed by "Monte Carlo", "L&M" and "Red&White".

 

In terms of retail turnover, "Kent" cigarettes placed sixth, "More" seventh, "Partner" eighth, "Bond" ninth and "Main" cigarettes were the tenth most popular cigarette brand.

 

The Revenue Service informed LETA that Philip Morris Latvia, JTI Marketing and sales, British American Tobacco, Rasta 1, and Tabakas nams grupa were the largest tobacco producers and importers in Latvia last year.
