Estonian attention towards China and the Chinese market is increasing as numbers show that the country could definitely profit from working on its image and popularity in the eyes of the People’s Republic, EstonianFreePress reports.

After the kind words Estonian President Tomas Hendrik Ilves spent with the deputy speaker of the Chinese Parliament early last week during Mr.Hua Jinmin visit to Estonia congratulating the organization of the World Expo in Shanghai, the goal of becoming more attractive to Chinese’s eyes is now closer. After a great translation work, in fact, the website VisitEstonia.com – an effective way to start getting to know the country and eventually plan vacations or business there, is up and running also in a brand new Chinese version, writes LETA.

By the end of last week, the tourist website managed by the State owned Enterprise Estonia made available a limited version in Chinese with the hope of a full operating one ready by the December 31st.

The site went online during the Estonian Tourism Days, an event organized in the Estonian pavilion at the Shanghai EXPO in China with the precise purpose of making Estonia a desirable travel destination also for Chinese people.

The event in Shanghai involved some specialized travel agencies and hotels in Estonia gathered together in a Non Profit association called Expoturism together with Chinese travel agencies which took part to a three-days workshop about the country and the best ways to promote it.

All the initiative have been created with the precise objective of increasing passengers’ awareness in Estonia and increase the number of tourists from China and their overnight stays in Estonia by 50%.
