The new Prisma in Tartu is located in the crossing of the Sõbra and Turu streets, in the premises previously occupied by the Mööblimaja furniture store. The opening is celebrated today, Wednesday 3 November at 5:00 p.m. The Prisma store has a sales area of some 6,400 square metres, informed BC Prisma Peremarket Marketing and Communications Manager Kadri Lainas.
The objective of Prisma Peremarket is to always offer consumers the most popular shopping basket in the market, good service, and an extensive and high-quality selection of goods.
“As we stated already in the beginning of the recession, this is a good time for expanding business operations. Prisma Peremarket gains benefits compared to those chains that make expansion deals during a period of economic growth. The favourable rental terms of business premises enable us to operate with lower costs than our competitors and thus to offer permanently lower prices to our customers,” says Janne Lihavainen, Managing Director of Prisma Peremarket.
According to Lihavainen, Prisma is not afraid of strict competition in the Tartu retail market. “For years, we have been operating successfully in Tallinn, where the competitive situation in the retail market is the toughest in Estonia.”
“In addition to an extensive and affordable selection of groceries, the store offers reasonably priced and high-quality clothing, as well as sport products by well-known brands, such as Adidas and Icepeak. The new store also has a fine selection of household products. In total, the selection of Tartu’s Prisma includes nearly 45,000 different products,” says Maarja Jüriöö, Manager of the Prisma store.
The new Prisma in Tartu employs more than 100 people. This autumn, Prisma Peremarket has created more than 200 new jobs in Narva and Tartu. Prisma Peremarket operates seven Prisma stores in Estonia: five in Tallinn, one in Narva, and one in Tartu.
The premises of the Tartu Prisma are owned by SM Property Neli OÜ. Prisma Peremarket rents the premises. The total surface area of the store is more than 9,000 square metres, of which the actual sales area comprises 6,400 square metres.
In addition to Finland, the Prisma chain operates in the Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, and Russian markets. Prisma launched its operations in Estonia in 2000.
SOK has two subsidiaries in Estonia: AS Prisma Peremarket and AS Sokotel, the latter of which manages the tourism and hospitality business of Sokos Hotel Viru in Tallinn.
