Losing the possibility of using the space made famous by its beauty and a countless number of articles published every year about Tallinn Christmas Market, Jõululaat decided then not to give up and to try, instead, organizing something new as Rotermanni Christmas market, reports LETA.
Some people find the idea of opening two Christmas market a little bit confusing and unusual, Estonian Free Press found out at a poll.
"One is called Estonian Christmas market and the other one Tallinn Christmas Market. They both look very cute, but I think it would have made more sense if they could have been united somehow, at least in the eyes of the people. I think more people will visit Raekoja for sure, because of the tree and tradition and because people are used to it, but they might be curious about Rotermanni, so they will also go there", told us Maris – the supporter of a common Christmas market.
Indrek, however, believes in economic advantages of the two markets.
"Well, as soon as there are more tourists to come, more profit our city will get by having two competitive markets. It is a good thing and it gives you a real Christmas mood", said Indrek.
The Christmas market organized by Vanalinna Turud will open its doors to visitors from all over the world already on November 27.
The market will be opened from 10 am till 7 p.m. every day, and it will last until January 9, 2010. The visitor will have the opportunity to buy traditional and handmade gifts, and also to enjoy typical food and hot wine.
In addition, in the Christmas market in the Old Town, children will be able to meet Santa Claus and to enjoy different activities like a mini zoo with real animals. Lights and snow-sculptures will be also the final touch to build a nice fairy tale atmosphere in the heart of Tallinn.
Jõululaat organized the Estonian Christmas market in Rotermanni quarter from November 19 to January 9 with the same opening hours as the market in Raekoja plats. The market in Rotermanni will be formed by a singing Christmas tree and 40 little houses where people will find all types of handicrafts and traditional gifts together with the usual drinks and food.
To attract new visitors to the "unusual" venue, the organizers also planned a series of Christmas related competitions to start at Tallinn Christmas market during the weekends.
Santa Claus and his helpers will welcome younger visitors also from Rotermanni market.
