Juhan Tere, BC, Tallinn, 04.08.2011.Print version
Concrete industry loses export market in Scandinavia due to the rise in prices, the Estonian news service BBN reports referring to a statement of Enno Rebano, CEO of Association of Construction Material Producers of Estonia.

As Rebane pointed out, the situation on the market is still complicated for the industry as compared to the construction boom in 2007/2008.

As reported, increase of the construction price index was 1.5% in the second quarter this year as compared to the first quarter 2011, and 3.2% compared to the second quarter of the previous year, as the data of Statistics Estonia shows, writes LETA.

In the second quarter 2011 compared to the previous quarter as well as to the second quarter of the previous year, the construction price index was mainly influenced by more expensive building materials and by the increase in labor costs.

Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the construction price index increased for the third quarter in succession and at a slightly faster rate. The annual growth was 1.5% in the first quarter and 3.2% in the second quarter.

The percentage change of the repair and reconstruction work price index was 1.6% compared to the first quarter and 3.5% compared to the second quarter of the previous year.
