Number of new Latvians companies down 7.6% in H1

A total of 8,831 new companies were established in Latvia in the first half of 2012, which is 7.6 percent less than in the respective period of 2011, when 9,552 start-ups were registered, according to the Register of Enterprises' Lursoft data.
2,043 companies were liquidated in the first six months of 2012, a 3.65 percent increase on the corresponding period in 2011.
5,690 low-capital limited liability companies were registered in January-June 2012, 8.1 percent less than in January-June 2011. 2,788 of them were registered with a share capital of one lat, 1,396 - LVL 2-10, 735 - LVL 11-100, 453 - LVL 101-1,000, 318 - LVL 1,001-1,999.
Compared to the same period in 2011, the total share capital of new companies reduced LVL 0.307 million to LVL 33.168 million.
The largest number of new enterprises was recorded in Riga - 4,976. 68 percent of all new companies were registered in Latvia's cities, the rest - in the country's regions, reported NOZARE.LV /LETA.
