Spotify now available also in Latvia

The Latvian copyright agency AKKA/LAA has signed an agreement with music streaming service Spotify, therefore residents of Latvia can now legally use services offered by Spotify. AKKA/LAA press secretary Reinis Brigis told LETA that Spotify has been issued a license to offer its services in the territory of the Republic of Latvia.

Spotify has also taken out licenses in Lithuania, Estonia and Iceland.

 

With the help of Spotify, residents of Latvia will have access to about 20 million songs, released by major record labels as well as independent record companies.

 

Spotify offers users to listen to an unlimited amount of music supported by visual and radio-style advertising.

 

Spotify exclusive advertising partners in the Baltics are Coca-Cola and SEB.

 

Spotify offers three membership modes: "Spotify Free" where users may listen to music for free in their PCs albeit with commercials and advertisements, "Spotify Unlimited" offers users to listen to an unlimited amount of music and without any commercials for EUR 3.49 per month, and "Spotify Premium" where the service is also available on any gadgets as well as offline – for EUR 6.99 per month.

 

At the moment, Spotify is available in 28 markets: United States, Great Britain, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Luxembourg, Italy, Portugal, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Iceland and Mexico. Spotify has over 24 million users who use the free version of Spotify and over 6 million who pay for using Spotify services.

 

Spotify was established in Sweden in 2008. It has paid copyright holders more than USD 500 million, and plans to pay USD 500 million more in 2013.
