1.1% dummy companies in Latvia operate in agriculture

As of September 16 this year, there were 92 taxpayers in the agricultural sector that had characteristics of a fictitious enterprise. This is 1.1% of all companies with characteristics of a fictitious enterprise, and 0.3% of all enterprises operating in the agricultural sector.
22,150 people were employed in the agricultural sector in the first half of 2013, 5.6% more than in the respective period in 2012, according to the State Revenue Service's analytical review.
The agricultural sector employed 2.8% of the total number of employed persons in the first six months of 2013, the same figure as in the first six months of 2012.
According to the State Revenue Service's estimates, 45.4% of workers in the agricultural sector were paid the minimum monthly wage or less in the first half of 2013, 15.34% more than the average figure in Latvia
The data are based on reports that the Revenue Service receives from other taxpayers.
