More than 200 persons participate in raids on "legal drugs" outlets in Riga

BC, Riga, 14.11.2013.Print version
Yesterday, more than 200 residents of Riga took part in a campaign against the so-called "legal drugs", carrying out "Stop Drugs" visits to the outlets selling psychoactive substances to prevent young persons from purchasing them.

"Stop Drugs" coordinator Sandris Bergmanis told LETA that patrols visited all the "legal drugs" outlets they knew of in Riga. In most cases, salespeople locked themselves in as soon as they saw the patrols approach.

Nevertheless, "Stop Drugs" patrols managed to enter at least six such venues and call police officers, who seized suspicious substances.

At one of the most popular "legal drugs" outlets in Riga, located on Ernesta Birznieka Upisa Street, the Municipal Police seized 64 packs of herbal mixes.
