Russian millionaires Igor Krutoy and Alexander Shenkman, the key organizers of the annual "New Wave" pop-music festival in Jurmala, were cross-questioned last week by the Corruption Prevention Bureau officers about property deals in Jurmala possibly linked to Latvia's First Party/Latvia's Way leader Ainars Slesers, portal Ir.lv reports.

Corruption Prevention Bureau's spokesman Andris Vitenburgs declined to comment.
Several sources told Ir.lv that the interrogation of Shenkman and Krutoy had been authorized by the Prosecutor General's Office, writes LETA.
According to Ir.lv, Shenkman worked as deputy chairman of the Banka Baltija Supervisory Council at the beginning of the 1990s. The current Prosecutor General Eriks Kalnmeiers was attorney for Shenkman after the Banka Baltija went bankrupt and the bank's CEOs were tried for bankruptcy fraud.
After Banka Baltija was declared bankrupt, Shenkman left Latvia in mid-1990s to return as the head of the "New Wave" organizing committee and one of the festival's general sponsors.
