Former Rigas namu parvaldnieks emloyee receives suspended sentence for document forgery

BC, Riga, 25.04.2013.Print version
Riga Central District Court on Wednesday gave a suspended five-year sentence to Janis Kalnins, former head of Rigas namu parvaldnieks (Riga house managers, RNP) municipal housing company's financial department, accused of misappropriation and document forgery, informs LETA.

According to the materials in the case, Kalnins in 2011 authorized money transfers from RNP accounts to his company NPK, LVL 247,230 in total, which he later withdrew from his company's account.

In order to conceal this, Kalnins altered several entries in the Horizon accounting system to artificially increase housing management company Mezciema namsaimnieks debt to the power utility Latvenergo by LVL 247,230.

Latvian State Radio reported previously that Kalnins had pleaded guilty.
