Certification revoked for 7 Zolitude construction engineers

BC, Riga, 28.11.2013.Print version
The Latvian Association of Construction Engineers decided today to revoke certification for seven of its members connected to the Zolitude supermarket disaster, informs LETA/Nozare.lv.

A leading commission at the association, who made the decision, did not review any possible causes of the accident, only named those certified specialists that built the sites in question.

The certificates of designers of building structures Ivars Segrets and Janis Malcans; conducter of the examination of the project Andris Gulbis, overseer of construction Martins Draudins and three construction managers – Stanislavs Kumpins, Evgenijs Nesterovics and Andrejs Kulesovs are suspended.

As the commission chairman explained, after the investigation is completed, those found guilty will have their certification ruled null and void; those who are cleared, will be able to renew their certificates.

"I'm in shock," said the collapsed "Maxima XX" supermarket's construction supervisor Martins Draudins. "Nobody says anything specific...actually, I better not comment right now."
