For example, hotel Draakon located next to Tartu Town Hall quite often stays empty because there are no people coming to stay in the hotel. Riina Veiram, the manager of the hotel, told Tartu Postimees that to her it seems incredible that Tartu City Government said Tartu is becoming more popular with tourists.
If there are no clients, the lights and heating go out and the receptionist stays home.
Aleksandri hotel in Tartu has had nights in which only one room was occupied, and the staff considered closing a floor.
Urmas Uustal, the manager of Barclay hotel in Tartu, said that they have not had nights when the place would be totally empty, but they have already experienced the situation when only one or two rooms are occupied.
