Palmse Manor stands out among other Estonian manors with its presentability and well-preserved manor ensemble, and is one of the most important tourist attractions in West-Viru County and all of Estonia. The development of the manor and increasing of visitor numbers will greatly affect the income of the region,” said Monica Hankov, Director of the Business Environment Division of Enterprise Estonia.
As a result of the project, the buildings, constructions and the entire territory of the manor will be put in order, and the activities offered to the visitors will be diversified.
The goal is to form a complex culture and recreational centre where visitors can enjoy the atmosphere of a 19th century setting. In the first stage, various construction works are planned. The malt barn, as a tourist service centre, will be restored, complete reconstruction works will be made in the manor park – lighting and sculptures in the spirit of the era will be installed, labyrinth hedges, flowerbeds, a terrace and dance square established, and stairs restored. In addition, the so-called Cavaliers’ House will be tidied up, as well as the fence surrounding the Manor-House; the well of the smithy will be restored and maintenance equipment obtained.
The works of the first stage of the project will cost MEEK 23.5, of which almost MEEK 20 will be covered from Enterprise Estonia’s programme for increasing regional competitiveness, which is co-funded from the European Regional Development Fund. According to the plan, the works of the first stage will be completed by November of next year.
