Jurmala beach at Dzintari regains Blue Flag

Print versionQuality control at popular Dzintari Beach in Jurmala on July 22 discovered that [waste] management there does not meet criteria of the Blue Flag eco-certificate, therefore inspectors had ordered the flag brought down.

Jurmala City Council in response launched a daily, early morning clean-up campaign, and the result, as of this past Saturday, is renewed Blue Flag status, writes LETA.
In addition, local authorities were ordered to heighten control over pets on the beach, update the information stand regularly and relocate the flagpole to the lifeguard's station.
Beaches must meet 29 standards in order to earn a Blue Flag.
