BC, Tallinn, 22.08.2013.Print version
If the tense situation in Egypt is not solved until the winter tourism season, Estonian tourism companies will loose approximately 10 - 15 million euros, Estonian national broadcasting corporation ERR/LETA reported referring to Eesti Paevaleht.

Journalists calculated that Estonian organizers of tours to Egypt earned at least 11 million euros last season.

The cheapest trip to Egypt costs 450 euros from Estonia.

"Last season, approximately 25 000 tourists went [from Estonia] to Hurgada and Sharm-el-Sheikh. In 2011, at a period of the so-called Arab Spring, tourists' flow decreased by approximately 6500 passengers," said Katrin Poell, the Marketing Expert at Tallinn Airport.

As a Bord Member of the Estonia-based company Novatours Andre Uustala noted, currently interest of Estonian inhabitants towards trips to Egypt is on the level of the last season; however, few of 900 persons, who have already booked trips to Egypt, cancelled the flight.

The expert believes that the situation would improve in Egypt before the start of the season.
