Ferry route between Kuressaare, Ventspils and Gotland to be unveiled

The town council of the largest town on the Estonian island of Saaremaa – Kuressaare, has confirmed a plan, in cooperation with Estonia, Latvia and Sweden, to unveil a new ferry route between Kuressaare, Ventspils (northwestern Latvia), and the Swedish island of Gotland, the local newspaper Oma Saar/LETA reports.

The Kuressaare Town Council plans to invest EEK 500,000 (LVL 22,450) in the project, which will be invested within the next four years. The project's total expenses will be EUR 1.6 million (LVL 1.12 million), which will be allocated from the Baltic Sea project Interreg IVA.

 

The Kuressaare Town Council explains that the project will be implemented from the spring of 2010 to the spring of 2013.
