USS VICKSBURG visits Klaipeda Port

On May 4-7, USS VICKSBURG (CG 69) guided missile cruiser of the US Naval Force is paying a friendly visit in Klaipeda Seaport, informed BC Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence.

Commanding Officer of the ship, representatives of the US Embassy in Lithuania, Mayor of Klaipeda Rimantas Taraskevicius and Commander-in-Chief of the Lithuanian Naval Force Rear Admiral Kestutis Macijauskas will hold an official meeting.

 

The shipcrew will attend a tribute ceremony for the US servicemen killed during WWII in Macikai village (Silute Distr.), help clearing surroundings of the interrupted development children home of Klaipeda, Giruliai and Melnrage beaches, and take part in other events. US shipcrew and team of the Lithuanian Naval Force are also expected to meet for a friendly sports match.

 

Technical characteristics of USS Vicksburg (CG 69): length: 173 m., beam: 17 m., draft: 10 m., displacement: 9 600 t., propulsion: 4x LM2500 turbine engines, power: 80 000 horsepower, speed: 32,5 knots(60 km/h), crew: 33 officers + 327 CPO and enlisted.
