Large parking lot to be built under Red Riflemen Square in Riga's Old Town

Print versionA large underground parking lot for some 500 automobiles will be built under Red Riflemen Square in Riga's Old Town in the future, Riga City Council's City Development Committee's Chairman Sergejs Dolgopolovs (Harmony Center) said in an interview ON Latvian State Radio yesterday.

Dolgopolovs stressed that the current parking lot near the square must be liquidated: access to the parking area is rather complicated and it spoils the view of Old Town, informs LETA.
Similar parking lots are also planned at the Latvian National Opera and the "Stockmann" shopping mall, Dolgopolovs added.
