RVR from Riga signs LVL 8 million train supply agreement with Belarus

Riga railroad car factory Rigas vagonbuves rupnica (RVR) has signed an LVL 8 million agreement with the Belarussian railroad company on construction of four passenger trains, newspaper Bizness&Baltija reports.

In a year's time RVR is to deliver four trains to Belarus, each consisting of three cars.

 

RVR has already supplied the Belarus company with passenger trains in the past, winning in the contests over competitors from Russia, Poland and Czech Republic.

 

Since 2005, RVR has been supplying Belarus with four diesel-engine trains per year, the total sum of the contract for the last three years was EUR 28 million or LVL 19.65 million.

 

75% of RVR shares belong to the holding company Felix, but 25% – to Vairogs-K Ltd..

 

The company is developing in three directions – constructions of diesel-engines, modernization and construction of electric trains and manufacture of low-floor trams.

 

As reported, the turnover of RVR in 2006 went up by 6.1%, reaching LVL 13 million. The turnover of RVR in 2005 was LVL 12.2 million.

 

However, the company's profit decreased by 21.7% – from LVL 126,331 in 2005 to LVL 98,804 in 2006.

 

The 2007 financial data of the company has not been disclosed yet.
