Estonia's coronavirus app downloaded over 100,000 times
Representatives of TEHIK said that 22 people have marked themselves as being ill on the app.
Tanel Tera, head of e-services at TEHIK, said that since Hoia's launch, it has been the most downloaded mobile app in Estonia for three consecutive weeks.
"Various major sports events and festivals have definitely played a role here as people have downloaded the Hoia app to visit them more safely," Tera said, adding that the larger the number of people using the app, the better it serves its purpose.
"People needn't be afraid to mark themselves as ill on the app, as they cannot be identified on the basis of this," Tera noted. "That way, however, a lot more people will be able to receive a notification if they have randomly come into contact with a sick person."
