Price of food-grade wheat in Latvia down 3.7% in January

Price of food-grade wheat in Latvia this past January was 3.7% lower than a year ago, in January 2019, but by 10.3% higher than the average price in Latvia in the past five years, according to the Agriculture Ministry's data.
In January 2020, a ton of food-grade wheat was selling at EUR 182.1 as compared to EUR 189.2 in January 2019. The price of food-grade wheat was by 1.3% lower than the average price in the EU, which in January stood at EUR 184.5 per ton.
The price of fodder wheat in Latvia was EUR 160.1 per ton in January 2020, a 14% drop from the same period a year ago when the price of fodder wheat was EUR 186.2 per ton. In January this year, the Latvian price of fodder wheat was 10% lower than the average price in the EU, which was EUR 177.8 per ton.
