Permit for operation of the Nord Stream 2 project is granted by the Danish Energy Agency
On November 18, 2019, Nord Stream 2 AG applied for a permit to operate the Nord Stream 2 pipelines on the Danish continental shelf.
The Danish Energy Agency has granted a permit to Nord Stream 2 AG to operate a section of the Nord Stream 2 pipelines on a number of conditions to ensure a safe operation of the pipelines. Conditions in the construction permit of Nord Stream 2 of 30 October 2019 are maintained to the extent that they have not yet been met or are relevant in connection with operations phase.
Commissioning can only take place when at least one of the pipelines has been tested, verified and when relevant conditions in the construction permit and the operations permit have been met.
The permit is granted pursuant to Section 2 of Executive Order No. 1520 of 15 December 2017 on Certain Pipeline Installations in Danish Territorial Waters and on the Danish Continental Shelf and in accordance with the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. According to which Denmark is obliged to allow the construction and operation of transit pipelines.
