Estonian PM: Sassnitz-Paldiski cargo vessel may start operation already from Thursday
BC, Tallinn, 18.03.2020.Print version
Estonian Prime Minister Juri Ratas said that shipper Tallink Grupp's vessel Star may start cargo carriage between the German town of Sassnitz and Estonian town of Paldiski already from Thursday.
"We decided, at the proposal of the minister of economic affairs and infrastructure, that the vessel Star will very likely start departures on the Paldiski-Sassnitz route for a month from tomorrow [Thursday] -- one direction one day and the other direction the other day to foremost ensure that cargo carriage from Estonia, ruling out land transport via Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, would reach Germany," Ratas said during question time in parliament on Wednesday.
"This is a very concrete measure for us to be able to ensure the smoothest possible economic communication in such a complex emergency situation," the prime minister added.
