"The past week has been the most difficult period of my political career. I have come under intense pressure in connection with combining the role of minister and mother. I admit that I have made mistakes and I offer my apologies for it," Reps, a divorced mother of six, said on social media. 

"I wish to offer my underage children a safe and peaceful environment to grow up in. Therefore I decided today to resign from the post of minister of education and research and will simultaneously take political responsibility for my mistakes in combining work and family life. I thank everyone who have expressed support to me! Also as a member of the Riigikogu, I will commit to advancing the fields of education and research and Estonian life," she said.
